Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport – Transfer to Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a friendly Chacha Safaris representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. You’ll meet your mountain guide, enjoy a delicious welcome dinner, and receive a detailed trek briefing and gear check before your climb begins.

Day 1: Machame Gate (1,800m) – Machame Camp (2,835m)
Distance: 11 km
Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
Habitat: Rainforest
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Your Kilimanjaro adventure officially begins! After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for registration, then start your trek through the beautiful rainforest. Along the way, you may spot blue monkeys and colorful tropical birds.
Arrive at Machame Camp in the evening for a hot meal and your first night on the mountain.
Day 2: Machame Camp (2,835m) – Shira Cave Camp (3,750m)
Distance: 5 km
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Habitat: Moorland
Wake up to your first mountain sunrise! The trail becomes steeper as you leave the forest and enter the moorland zone. Trek across the Shira Plateau, enjoying your first panoramic views of Kibo Peak before arriving at Shira Cave Camp for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 3: Shira 2 Camp (3,850m) – Lava Tower (4,600m) – Barranco Camp (3,900m)
Distance: 10 km
Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
Today’s trek is all about acclimatization. You’ll ascend to Lava Tower (4,600m) for lunch before descending to Barranco Camp for the night. The “climb high, sleep low” approach helps your body adapt to the altitude.
Enjoy breathtaking views of the Western Breach and Barranco Wall before settling in for the night.
Day 4: Barranco Camp (3,900m) – Karanga Camp (3,995m)
Distance: 6 km
Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
Start your day with a thrilling climb up the Barranco Wall, a favorite section for most climbers! Though steep, it’s non-technical and very rewarding. Trek through stunning alpine landscapes before reaching Karanga Camp, where you’ll rest and enjoy a warm meal.
Day 5: Karanga Camp (3,995m) – Barafu Camp (4,673m)
Distance: 4 km
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
A short but steep climb brings you to Barafu Camp, your final base before the summit. Here, you’ll relax, eat a hearty dinner, and rest early. The summit attempt begins at midnight, so get plenty of rest before the big day!
Day 6: Barafu Camp (4,673m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Millennium Camp (3,950m)
Distance: 15 km
Trekking Time: 12–15 hours
Habitat: Arctic Zone & Alpine Desert
This is it—the summit day!
Begin your ascent at midnight under a star-filled sky, climbing slowly and steadily toward Stella Point (5,756m).
As the sun rises over the horizon, you’ll take your final steps to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)—the Roof of Africa!
Celebrate your incredible achievement, take unforgettable photos, then descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing to Millennium Camp for a well-deserved night’s sleep.
Day 7: Millennium Camp (3,950m) – Mweka Gate (1,640m)
Distance: 14 km
Trekking Time: 5–6 hours
Habitat: Rainforest
Enjoy your last breakfast on the mountain before descending through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate.
Here, you’ll receive your official summit certificate and celebrate with your team before heading back to Moshi for a hot shower, delicious meal, and well-earned rest.
